What’s your favorite thing about coming to work every day?

My favorite part of coming to work everyday that I never knowing exactly what my day will look like. We work in a very fast paced environment, and assigned cases/responsibilities can change quickly. I love that we are taught and expected to be adaptable, but never feel like we’re in over our heads without an appropriate level of help.

What’s your favorite rotation and why?

My favorite rotation of residency thus far was my Obstetric anesthesia rotation. Our obstetric anesthesia faculty are great teachers, and allow residents enough autonomy to really learn and develop competency. The rotation also highlights the multidisciplinary, team-based approach that is so important for patient care, and gives us a chance to work alongside our co-residents more than we usually would in the operating room.

What do you do for fun?

I love to cook and bake at home for family and friends! Food is my favorite way to bring people together, and it’s a great stress reliever. I enjoy going to the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and picking up fresh, local produce that I wouldn’t normally find at a chain grocery store. There are so many great city and state parks within a very short drive of Chapel Hill that its easy to enjoy the many outdoor activities that this area has to offer, like hiking trails, river tubing, and kayaking.
