What are your career aspirations?
I have a 8 year Air Force service commitment, so I’d love to see the world and practice anesthesia in some really austere environments during that time!
What drew you to UNC?
UNC is a hidden gem. Incredible cases and case breadth with equally impressive clinicians and teaching staff. Residents get to do the vast majority of major cases from cardiac, to transplant, to pediatrics because fellowships at UNC have been structured to create minimal interference.
What is your go-to fun fact?
My wife and I met in middle school. I asked her if she would date me and she replied, “No. I don’t date people I can’t see myself marrying.” Married since 2012 with two awesome kids.
What do you do for fun?
My kids are growing up fast, so being silly with them, and my wife is a fulfilling time that I don’t want to miss! During the summer, we are always outdoors, finding new hikes to trek or rivers to swim in, and (on our best days) road tripping to the beach/mountains.
What’s a hobby you’ve picked up since the start of residency?
Chopping wood. Nothing like taking half a tree and chopping it all up into firewood for a bonfire and good times.
If I wasn’t an anesthesiologist I would be…
A stay at home dad? I’d probably make it like a week before the kids out paced me.
