What drew you to UNC?

I was a member of the first class to start virtual interviews due to the pandemic, and I was incredibly nervous about getting a genuine feel for programs from afar. However, during every interaction with various faculty members and residents during my UNC interview day, I got a sense of warmth, friendliness and approachability that I just couldn’t ignore and made me realize that this was a program where I would be happy. UNC also happened to have an excellent exposure to a diverse set of rotations during intern year that would help me build the skills I needed to start off in anesthesia, and it had a strong curriculum within anesthesia to allow me to explore my interests in the field early on. I knew that by choosing UNC, I’d become the best physician and anesthesiologist that I could be.

What is your go-to fun fact?

Back in 2016, there was an app called QuizUp, which was essentially a time-and-accuracy-based trivia competition with millions of people around the world. I was able to achieve and maintain number 1 rank in the Family Guy category for 3 months in a row.

What is your favorite memory with your co-residents?

At the end of our intern year, our class rented out a lake house for our department sponsored yearly retreat, and this was an awesome experience that I will never forget. I remember playing large-scale board games such as Mafia until 5-6 in the morning with my class, who at this point felt like family. I remember everyone unwinding from finishing our intern year while bonding over activities such as cooking together, boating, and hiking.
