What drew you to UNC?

I first came out to UNC as a 4th year Medical student for a month-long anesthesia rotation. I expected it to be a “month-long audition” but instead I felt very welcomed. It was as if I was already a part of UNC Anesthesia. Everyone treated me with patience, respect and kindness. I felt a strong community of folks that actually cared and wanted to get to know me as an individual. I felt supported and integrated into the team. I’m terrible with directions and the hallways were confusing but no one allowed me to get lost. I was welcomed to participate in patient care in every way that I could. Most importantly, I felt that everyone was excited to teach. I knew immediately that this was the place I wanted to be. And now that I’m here as a resident with more responsibilities, I’m still as excited as I was in those days when I came here as a visiting medical student.
