Kenneth (Brad) Brown Jr

What is your greatest accomplishment during residency thus far?

Setting the record for the number of eye-rolls my dad jokes I write on the PACU board get (and I’m not even a dad!)

What drew you to UNC?

Multiple things. Most fundamentally was my realization that I wanted to be in an environment in which I would be challenged and grow while also remaining existentially comfortable. My experiences on my interview day revealed the truly supportive and collaborative nature of this institution and the program and I never looked back. I was also excited by the way we were integrated into the program as interns, both vertically (by way of working with upper level anesthesia residents on SICU and during our Chronic Pain month) and horizontally (by way of AMR). Additionally, the didactic schedule and educational philosophy were also incredibly persuasive as I knew they would effectively prepare me for my career as an anesthesiologist. Ultimately, the sense of community was palpable and I knew I could not go wrong going to UNC!

What do you do for fun?

I am all about that board gaming life (Catan of course, Terraforming Mars, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Diplomacy, etc)! I also love going to trivia at Bull City Cider Works or Linda’s!!!

If I wasn’t an anesthesiologist I would be…

An astrophysicist or chemist!
