Dr. Kim Nichols is a native North Carolinian. She completed all of her medical training at UNC, after which she transitioned into a career as a private practice anesthesiologist and pain management physician. Because of her interest in medical education, Dr. Nichols transitioned back to academic medicine and a faculty position in the UNC Department of Anesthesiology, where she has served in several leadership roles, including, among others, the Division Chief of General Anesthesia, Assistant Residency Program Director, General OR and PACU Medical Student Rotation Director, and Medical Director of Preop and PACU.
