Hometown: Military (multiple U.S. places)
Undergraduate: University of Missouri – Columbia & Kansas City
Medical School: West Virginia University
What drew you to UNC?
I heard about the high level of comradery, family friendliness, outstanding faculty investment in our education, and the triangle area being an excellent place to raise a family. Also the complexity and volume of cases paired with the reputation of the program’s resident education to develop clinically exceptional anesthesiologists. From my experiences here this has all proven to be true.
What do you love most about the Triangle?
The Triangle is an excellent place to raise a family with many unique indoor/outdoor activities, restaurants, events, parks and recreation, and an excellent school age education system. The southern hospitality found within the small town feel of Chapel Hill, unique cultural and sporting events in Durham, and big city feel of Raleigh offer a variety of diverse experiences.
What are your career aspirations?
I am still exploring to figure that out. I would like to do a fellowship after residency. So far, I find myself most intrigued with cardiothoracic, pediatric and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology.
What is your go-to fun fact?
I’ve been thrown off the ramp of an aircraft, but I had a parachute. Ask me about it sometime.
If you weren’t an anesthesiologist, what would you be?
