NIH R21 Project # 1R21MD016467-01: This study evaluates the effect of a large, single-dose of Vitamin D to prevent chronic pain and reduce racial disparities in pain outcomes following Motor Vehicle Collisions. This study is being conducted by collaborators in the UNC Department of Psychiatry (Dr. Sam McLean).  Based on encouraging results of an initial pilot study, Dr. Mauck and McLean were awarded this NIH R21 grant to evaluate whether a single dose of Vitamin D can reduce racial disparities in pain outcomes following Motor Vehicle Collisions.
