Immune Mechanisms of Vitamin D in a Randomized Controlled Trial to Reduce Chronic Pain After Burn

This NIH K23 (Project # 5K23AT011389-02) focuses on Vitamin D to prevent chronic pain and reduce inflammation following burn injury. Based on outstanding results of an initial pilot study, Dr. Mauck was awarded an NIH K23 grant to perform a mechanistic trial evaluation the effect of a single-dose of Vitamin D on the immune system following burn injury. This investigation is currently recruiting and will continue through the summer of 2024. This trial is a mechanistic trial will examine the impact of Vitamin D on the immune system using cutting edge mass cytometry techniques, custom designed by Dr. Mauck and his team.
