Andrew Alexander 2_22_2017Join us for a presentation titled “Efficient Multicontrast Structural Imaging with MPnRAGE” by Dr. Andrew Alexander, Director of MRI Imaging, Waisman Lab for Brain Imaging and Behavior, University of Wisconsin at noon on February 22nd, 2017 in room 4004, Marsico Hall.

Abstract:

Structural T1-weighted (T1w) imaging is the cornerstone of neuroanatomical imaging for both research and clinical applications. The MP-RAGE sequence is a broadly used T1w imaging method with minimal changes over the last 20+ years. Some of the limitations of T1w MP-RAGE include a fixed singular contrast, lack of quantitative measures, and sensitivity to head motion. To address these issues, our lab has developed a novel MPnRAGE method, which acquires inversion-recovery prepared imaging data using a 3D radial imaging sequence. This technique can obtain high resolution (~1mm isotropic), whole brain images with more than 200 T1w image contrasts in comparable imaging time to fully sampled MP-RAGE. In addition, MPnRAGE can provide quantitative T1 maps from the same data. Finally, retrospective motion correction methods have been developed to significantly improve image quality when motion occurs.
