This is an annual one-week observance to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate antibiotic use to combat the threat of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance is one of the most urgent threats to the public’s health, and antibiotic stewardship is critical to combat the spread of resistance and preserve existing drugs. Help the Carolina Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (CASP) at UNC Medical Center support this effort by ensuring patients receive the right antibiotic at the right dose for the appropriate duration, educating patients and families, performing hand hygiene and following infection prevention measures with every patient. Everyone can be an antibiotic steward, and we thank you for all you do to promote appropriate antibiotic use.
