Renewed recognition from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services: NC DHHS renewed UNC Medical Center’s Advanced Level 2 Antibiotic Stewardship STAR Partner Facility rating for a second year, in recognition of its comprehensive antimicrobial stewardship program. UNCMC is the only hospital in the Triangle region to achieve this level of recognition.- Results of efforts to scale up antibiotic time-outs across the UNC Medical Center by encouraging the transition from empiric to targeted antibiotics based on clinical and microbiologic data, and discontinuing as soon as infections are cleared
- Results from a recent study on appropriate management of pediatric appendicitis, with a focus on reducing unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotics
