About

Dr. Marx focuses on multidisciplinary collaboration in patient care, research, and professional education to address gaps in infectious disease knowledge and practice.  Dr. Marx practices with the Carolina Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and UNC Medical Center Infectious Diseases Consult Services (general and immunocompromised host).  She trains pharmacy students, residents, and ID fellows to synthesize and apply available evidence to patient cases and to demonstrate diligent, compassionate care.  Dr. Marx directs the Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Elective at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and teaches in several other courses.  She is consistently recognized for excellence in teaching.  She is a Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and infectious diseases pharmacist.

Prior to joining UNC, Dr. Marx led antimicrobial stewardship programs at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Emory University Midtown.  She completed her ; PGY1 training at the Medical University of South Carolina; and PGY2 ID training at Wake Forest Baptist Health.

Her research interests include antimicrobial stewardship interventions, S. aureus disease, osteomyelitis, OPAT practice, and infectious diseases education.  She is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.
