About

My research has two main foci. The first is the development, evaluation, and implementation of new tests and technologies in the clinical microbiology laboratory.  In particular, I am interested in how innovation in the clinical lab translates to improved patient or institutional outcomes. My other area of interest is the identification and characterization of multi-drug resistant organisms including their role in health and disease.  Using a combination of traditional phenotypic tools and modern molecular techniques I query the molecular epidemiology of these organisms.  In partnership with my collaborators we further analyze these organisms and their clinical epidemiology, including risk factors associated with their transmission, to develop a fuller understanding of these important pathogens.
