The Neher lab studies lipid metabolism. We use cryoEM, biochemistry, microscopy, and animal models to study the regulation of LPL, the lipase responsible for regulating plasma triglyceride levels. It is important to understand LPL’s role in regulating plasma triglyceride levels, as they are an independent risk factor for heart disease, which is the leading cause of death worldwide.
