UNC Engagement Week

March 21, 2022 @ 9:00 am - March 25, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

What kinds of positive impact do local communities and Carolina researchers come together to create? Explore the power of academic and community-connected partnerships during the first-ever pan-campus Carolina Engagement Week 2022. This weeklong celebration of public engagement will feature events, workshops, stories and other experiences that highlight authentic, effective and sustainable collaborations between UNC-Chapel Hill and community partners across North Carolina. More than 30 campus units and their partners will share how they are working in concert to address shared priorities that improve the lives of people across the state.

CHER is participating in the following Engagement Week events:

1. Interprofessional Team-based Leadership Development: This webinar describes inclusive and interdisciplinary models for leadership development. Participants will learn about three team-based leadership initiatives for healthcare providers, healthcare trainees, and community-academic partnerships. Organizers: Melissa A. Green, DHSc, MPH, Josh Hinson, MSW, LCSW, Lisi Martinez Lotz, PhD, Hope Bussenius, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, NC Rural, Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice, Center for Health Equity Research

2. NC CEAL: The Black/African-American Community Response Team: The North Carolina Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Research Team established a collaborative process that implements intentional strategies to fully engage community partners to build the power necessary for shared decision making. The establishment of this collaborative also allows space for team members to provide feedback to academics, practitioners and researchers about their own COVID-19 efforts. This much-needed feedback aims to reduce conscious or unconscious racial biases that contribute to COVID-19 inequities in Black communities. Organizers: Maleka Walker, MSPH, Center for Health Equity Research, School of Medicine, Community-Campus Partnerships for Health, Gillings School of Global Public Health
