Dr. Abajas is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist, with interests in bleeding and clotting disorders, such as hemophilia B. Her research uses mouse models developed at UNC to study:
- The immune response that occurs in patients with hemophilia B in order to better understand the pathophysiology behind inhibitor development.
- Inhibitor antibody development following replacement factor IX infusion therapy in children with bleeding disorders.
