Dear Wonderful Research Community!

Look what’s coming to a workstation near you………..

ISD has been working on a new project that will go live in a few weeks regarding how users access Epic. When you currently click the Epic@UNC icon, it utilizes what is called Hyperspace. Epic is trying to migrate a lot of their functionality to a more web-based platform called Hyperdrive. [Epic loves its quirky names!]. It’s supposed to be faster to upgrade and easier to maintain and will come with some new bells and whistles. Here’s a link to all of the fanciness coming with Hyperdrive

On Feb 14, we had a group of brave souls that volunteered to try out the new functionality. Their efforts followed with such rave reviews as “I am liking the look of it and functions well”, “No issues and easy to navigate” and the ever impressed “It seems the same to me honestly”.

The project team knew we couldn’t handle everyone’s overwhelming enthusiasm at once, so the go lives have been broken up in to different waves based on location. On the dates listed below, users at the following locations will see the new Hyperdrive icon in your MyApps.

March 6: UNC Medical Center, Rex, Main Billing Office, and Clinics within the UNC Medical Center/Rex Revenue Location [Details have been fuzzy regarding HBR and Rex Holly Springs so y’all may be Wave 1 or 2. SURPRISE!]

March 27: Everyone else [aka saving the best for last]

If the Hyperdrive icon is not available on March 27 or if you run into any issues performing your workflows via Hyperdrive, please create a Service Now Incident ticket to track your issue or call the ISD Service Desk at 984-974-4357. Be sure the Incident is linked to the Hyperdrive Go Live if questioned. [You know we IT nerds love our metrics!] Also, this way, if [and hopefully when] I win the lottery, others on the team will be able to help you if I’m not available since it’ll be in the ticketing system and not stuck in my inbox or IMs.

NOTE: For those of you that utilize Protocol Builder, that function is not available in Hyperdrive. When you need to create/edit a BCA [Billing Calendar Analysis record], you will need to log in to Hyperspace for that. Affected users were added to a special list allowing you to retain access to both environments with this project. If you find that is not the case, please submit that Incident ticket so we can follow up on it.

Let me know if you have any comments/questions/concerns, otherwise, happy Hyperdriving!

Karen

All: Please forward to your groups and listservs as appropriate to make users aware of these upcoming changes to their Epic access. Thanks!
