About

This program, offered on-site at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, brings together chairs of major clinical departments in teaching hospitals for two weeks of intensive and systematic study of the critical leadership and management issues facing chairs, their departments, and teaching hospitals.

For more information, visit the program website.

Program Curriculum and Experience

The program dates are typically the last week of January through the first week of February. Classes and discussion groups are scheduled six days a week. Preparation for classes averages six hours a day. Participants are required to free themselves of personal and professional obligations for the duration of the program so they can fully participate in the educational experience.

The program curriculum covers the following:

  • Competitive Strategy
  • Health Policy
  • Financial Analysis and Control
  • Innovative Problem Solving
  • Operations Management
  • Organizational Issues
  • Leadership Challenges

Because this is a full-time, residential program with a cumulative and interactive educational experience, accepted applicants must plan to attend and participate in all program sessions.

Application Process and Timeline

The application period is open through December. The priority application deadline is in August. Early application is encouraged.

Qualified candidates are admitted on a rolling, space-available basis, and programs often fill early. Applications are accepted until the program reaches capacity.
