Frequently Asked Questions

A multidisciplinary team of researchers at UNC Chapel Hill is developing a new program called “Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS). This program aims to provide highly actionable genetic information that parents can use to make treatment decisions during their child’s routine health care.

ABGS will be available through a research study. In mid-2025, we will be starting enrollment in our pilot research study. Parents/caregivers and children can take part in the study through the clinics and providers involved in this pilot. Subsequently, the research will be extended more broadly to sites across the state. If this research is successful, we hope that ABGS will become widely available to all children through their health care providers.
