Dr. Yuliya Pylayeva-Gupta (Associate Professor, Department of Genetics) has received an American Cancer Society Research Scholar Award for her project titled “B Cells as Mediators of Tumor Eradication in Pancreatic Cancer”.

NIH/AHRQ/NIOSH have extended the special exception for post-submission material due to COVID-19 pandemic (see NOT-OD-20-123; NOT-OD-20-163; NOT-OD-20-179; NOT-OD-21-095) to include application submitted for May 2022 Council (NOT-OD-21-179) and August/October 2022 Council (NOT-OD-22-047).

Dr. Jenny PY Ting (William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of Genetics) has been recognized by UNC Chapel Hill with the Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Dr. Piotr Mieczkowski (Associate Professor, Department of Genetics; Technical Director, High Throughput Sequencing Facility) was awarded Boost funding from the UNC SOM Dean’s Office for his project “First Multi-Omic Study of Bat Longevity as a Model for Neurodegenerative Diseases”.

The UNC Department of Genetics is excited to announce the UNC Educational Pathways to Increase Diversity in GEnomics (EDGE) training program for undergraduate students.

Jenny Ting, PhD, is the recipient of the Illinois State University Distinguished Alumni Award for her outstanding immunology research.

Sarah Brotman (GMB – Mohlke lab) and Brandon Le (BCB – Stein lab) participated (virtually) in the 2021 UNC “Shadow a Scientist” Program.
