Ty Chapman is a PharmD candidate at UNC-Chapel Hill, with a focus on reproductive and neurodiverse health. Ty also explores the fusion of art and medicine, termed pharmaco-poetics. Graced with a BSPS degree from Ohio State University and a minor in AAAS, Ty’s fervor for history and Black cultural studies permeates every endeavor. Ty collaborates with the Marian Cheek Jackson Center to promote holistic community well-being and to engage in multigenerational outreach in the Northside community. Prior to stepping into this role, Ty conducted genealogical research and partnered with the David Nickens Heritage Center, weaving together the threads of personal heritage, history, and art.

Megan Ramsey is currently pursuing a master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. In her role as a CPL Intern, Megan supports the Orange County Home Preservation Coalition through database management and organization. Within community-based outreach, she is interested in exploring how social and economic discrimination influences access to affordable, quality housing.

Kendra is a PhD student in the Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in the Department of Health Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her research centers acts of grief in the context of demonstrations and protests following instances of police brutality. Kendra supports multigenerational engagement programs in the Northside community in partnership with the Marian Cheek Jackson Center. She holds a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Towson University and a bachelor of exercise science degree from Norfolk State University. Prior to moving to NC, she worked with the Howard County Department of Aging and other community-serving nonprofit organizations.

Dania is an MPA student at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her focus is on local and state government, and she is particularly interested in how government collaborates with nonprofits and organizations to drive change. Dania is working as an intern for HOPE NC through the PiAP partnership to organize community events, develop resources, and find potential partners for the organization. With an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Robotics Engineering Technology, Dania hopes to bridge the worlds of STEM and public administration by conducting data analysis for state and local governments in the future.

Jen is an MCRP/MPH dual degree student at UNC-Chapel Hill where she studies transportation planning and health behavior. She is interested in ways urban planners and public health professionals can collaborate to address health inequities and enhance mobility options for all through design of the built environment. Jen is partnering with the CPL to conduct a program evaluation for the Orange County Home Preservation Coalition (OCHPC). OCHPC is made up of a group of partner organizations that work together to preserve, repair, and modify homes so homeowners can continue living in them comfortably and safely. The program evaluation will include researching the impacts of weatherization and HVAC retrofits on homeowner health, surveying Coalition service recipients and Coalition partners to understand program strengths and challenges, and integrating a racial equity lens throughout the evaluation. In addition to her work with OCHPC, she supports transportation safety research through UNC’s Highway Safety Research Center. Prior to UNC, Jen worked in the transportation planning field in Atlanta, GA.
