Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Virtual Calming LibraryCarol, Julia, Ashley, and Allie spent time this summer creating a fabulous virtual resource for students, families, and staff members in our school district – the Virtual Calming Library. (http://bit.ly/CMS-VCL) The Virtual Calming Library is a space for CMS students, staff, and families to access tools/strategies beneficial to manage emotions, build resilience and improve overall wellbeing. They have organized the site by grade bands, making it easy for therapists to quickly locate activities and resources that will assist a specific student/family. Within each grade band section, there are numerous activities and resources available in the areas of mindfulness, movement, breathing exercises, music and sounds, visual relaxation, and more. Separate sections for staff and parents as well as additional resources in each grade band are also provided. The Virtual Calming Library has received great feedback thus far, and numerous therapists are utilizing it both during virtual and in-person sessions with their students and sharing the information with parents and teachers for additional carryover. Carol, Julia, Ashley, and Allie truly have a passion for mindfulness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing, and CMS is extremely proud of their contributions to help provide resources and strategies to improve the overall wellbeing for our students, families, and staff!
