Dr. Thomas is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner of over 25 years, with extensive experience in health disparities and integrating advanced nursing practices for adolescents. She is broadly knowledgeable in research of national and international interventions, focusing on HPV vaccinations in adolescent and pediatric populations in rural areas. This research led to the development of her widely used HPV survey instrument, which is used in primary care and research, increasing HPV vaccinations, and reducing related cancers. She has been funded by National Institute of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research, Health Resources and Services Administration, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
