Dr. Katie Westreich is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and a member of the Pediatric Nephrology Division. She is the Medical Director of Pediatric Kidney Transplant at UNC, the Program Director of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship, and the Director of Quality Improvement and M&M leader for the Division of Nephrology. She was trained in improvement methodology at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, a national leader in healthcare quality improvement. She cares for pediatric nephrology patients both in the hospital setting and in outpatient clinic. She serves as a faculty mentor for the Clinician Leadership in Quality and Safety Scholarly Concentration for medical students at UNC. She has particular interests in systematically improving the quality and value of healthcare for children with kidney disease and kidney transplant, and in medication safety upon discharge from NC Children’s Hospital.
