Senior Quality & Organizational Excellence Leader

Monecia Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education-Biology from NC State University, a Master of Healthcare Administration from UNC Gillings School of Public Health, and a PhD from North Carolina A&T State University.

Monecia serves as Associate Director for the Clinician Leadership in Quality and Safety program, leads the NC Maintenance of Certification program, and serves as Team Lead/Project Manager for the UNC Medical Center Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team. Previously, Monecia provided program management for the IHQI Improvement Fellows, the Physician Engagement in Quality and Safety program, and the Graduate Medical Education/Health Systems Science portion of an AMA grant. Prior to her work at UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health, she served as Health Director for Yadkin and Davidson Counties with responsibility for policy development, program planning, and continuous quality improvement.
