Sania Rahim is a fourth-year medical student from Beckley, WV, who is pursuing Obstetrics and Gynecology. She became interested in quality improvement in her first year of medical school through her work on social determinants of health screening at the ACC Internal Medicine Clinic with Dr. Amy Shaheen. Sania is particularly drawn to the application of QI to reduce healthcare disparities, especially in birthing patients. Sania is currently working with Dr. Tracy Manuck, Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Director of the UNC Prematurity Prevention Program, to improve provider counseling, documentation, and patient adherence of low dose aspirin usage in patients at risk of developing preeclampsia.
