UNC first year medical students placed first at the inaugural LabCorp Healthcare Competition. The competition involved developing a strategic plan to help patients learn about savings they could capitalize on by having their labs done at a LabCorp facility, outside of a hospital or clinic in-house lab.

Pinnacle Hill, LLC, an innovative partnership between UNC Chapel Hill and Deerfield Management that strives to help UNC scientists discover new medicine, has appointed Jon Collin, PhD as Chief Scientific Officer. UNC Health Care received the 2018 HIMSS Davies Enterprise Award for its innovative utilization of health information technology to advance patient outcomes and value by centralizing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) procedure reporting.

The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) awarded UNC Medical Center Department of Pharmacy an Innovator Award for implementing the drug vial optimization program, an innovative strategy for drug delivery that led to significant positive financial, safety, and clinical outcomes.
