Scholarly Concentration Programs
Overview
We encourage students to consider participating in a Scholarly Concentration Program (SCP) at UNC. A student choosing an SCP is making a commitment to learning a discipline and doing a deeper dive into a chosen area. Students will have the option to include their SCP participation as one of their three noteworthy characteristics on their MSPE. SCPs are an excellent way to distinguish oneself from a career standpoint: working closely with a mentor expert in the chosen discipline, developing meaningful programs, contributing to the literature, and maybe even following this pathway into a future career. At a practical level, students participating in SCPs will have ample material to discuss during residency interviews.
