Dr. Anil Gehi is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at UNC in 2008, Dr. Gehi completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in electrical engineering at MIT, his MD and internal medicine residency at University of California San Francisco, cardiovascular disease fellowship at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Emory Medical Center. Dr. Gehi is the Director of Clinical Electrophysiology and Program Director of the Fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at UNC. His research interests have focused on improving the quality and system of care for patients suffering from atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common arrhythmia affecting adults. Work through this effort is underway to build a collaborative model of care throughout the UNC Healthcare System. Adjunctive efforts as part of this undertaking include develop digital tools for patient engagement and using a tele-mentoring model to train physicians in the community on best practice recommendations. Additional research endeavors have focused on the field of hybrid AF ablation and complex mapping of ablation targets.
