Undergraduate Medical Student Education

Our faculty leaders instruct students in the Medical Doctorate Program at UNC. They are passionate about teaching the Foundation Phase, striving to continually inspire our learners, not just with knowledge and skills, but by demonstrating their own passion for learning and patient care. Why Choose UNC for Residency

The core values of the internal medicine and combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency programs are autonomy, camaraderie, and a strong sense of community. Interns and residents benefit from uncommonly dedicated faculty and innovative educational curricula. They are exposed to a wide variety of clinical experiences that prepares them well for clinical practice or further sub-specialty training. And formalized coaching, advising, and mentoring, combined with ample research opportunities, helps residents achieve their full potential.

Why Apply to UNC’s PSTP

UNC’s Physician-Scientist Training Program (PSTP) is a unique program for young physicians who wish to pursue academic careers devoted to medical research. The Department fosters a supportive environment for candidates with research experience who seek to complete internal medicine residency, fellowship, and postdoctoral research training via the ABIM Research Pathway. PSTP students lead their own projects and seek external sources of funding to facilitate the development of their ideas. Upon graduating, PSTP students have the skills to begin careers in some of the most exciting areas of academic medicine, becoming the future pioneers in research.
