About

As a physician, I receive the honor and privilege to work with and care for the people of this great state. As a hospitalist and a palliative care provider, I receive the opportunity to work with patients and their families/friends at some of their most vulnerable times AND I do not take this lightly. I am humbled by their invitation to care for them an I attempt to care for my patients their loved ones with dignity, compassion and competence and hope to do so in a just and equitable fashion. I continue to serve both UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC – Hillsborough. As an associate professor in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Palliative care, I am honored to work with numerous medical students, residents, and faculty in various aspects of patient care. I currently participate on the SOM Education Committee and Leadership Council for the Academy of Educators and have worked to promote a more inclusive and compassionate learning and working environment for all. Throughout my work on these committees and other initiatives in which I am involved, I hope to help create a culture of inclusivity, justice, life-long learning, empathy and compassion, and professionalism. As one of the Associate Program Directors for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and an instructor of Passing the Torch (a faculty development program), I continue to work on creating a learning environment founded on the principals mentioned above at the GME and faculty level.
