Passing the Torch is a faculty development program uniquely suited to all levels of Clinician Educator faculty to develop further patient care and teaching skills with a person-centered model. Participants will also work on a ‘passion project’ of their choice for a capstone to the course and can include, but is not limited to, a creative pursuit related to the practice of medicine, aspect of course evaluation, or seed for future education or research project.

Sessions, generally at lunch time, including critical reflection, participatory learning, written appreciative inquiry, and role-playing, among other techniques for building and honing clinical and teaching skills. Here is a list of sample sessions.

Nominations for Passing the Torch: Fostering Medical Humanism through Faculty Role Models are due by September 11, 2023. Applications may be submitted here.

Please contact the program director, Dr. Jennifer McEntee (jmcentee@email.unc.edu) with any questions.
