Dr. Cynthia Gay came to UNC for a fellowship in Infectious Diseases, drawn to the results-driven research of UNC faculty and their open-minded approach. She says both the big and small impact on patients is easily the best part of her work. Sometimes this means being the person who listens. Sometimes it’s about making a patient laugh, while providing a safe place to talk about HIV.

Dr. Khadijah Bhatti is from High Point, NC, and she graduated from Duke University and the UNC School of Medicine. She says she appreciates North Carolina in all of its complicated glory, and she can’t wait to see what her class can accomplish by working together.
