Trevor Jolly, MBBS, Adam Goldstein, MD, MPH, and Kimberly Shoenbill, MD, PhD, are co-authors of an editorial published in JAMA calling for more funding and better reimbursement for smoking cessation counseling for cancer patients who smoke.
The article asserts that programs designed to help cancer patients stop using tobacco should be considered as important and impactful as providing the right drug at the right time and at the right dose to patients.
Jolly is assistant professor of medicine in the division of oncology. Goldstein and Shoenbill are professors of family medicine. Goldstein is also the director of the UNC Tobacco Treatment Programs.
