Joshua Niznik, PharmD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine in the division of geriatric medicine and UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, was a guest commentator on a podcast for the American Medical Directors Association, AMDA On-the-Go. The podcast regularly features commentary from UNC faculty Philip Sloane, MD, and Mallory Brown, MD, from the UNC Department of Family Medicine.  Niznik was invited to participate in a recent episode which highlighted articles from the October, 2020 issue of the Journal of the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.  The issue focused on medication controversies on long term care, including use and misuse of proton pump inhibitors, fracture prevention, and antihypertensive deprescribing near end of life.  Niznik provided insights as a pharmacist and pharmacoepidemiologist with expertise in studying quality of prescribing in long term care settings.
