Moises Velasquez-Manoff, a science writer, spent years attempting to find answers for the cause of his burning esophagus. When the diagnoses was deemed eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), Velasquez-Manoff details the brutal side effects that came with the medications. He points to Drs. Evan Dellon’s and Elizabeth Jensen’s research on the increase of cases, causes and new treatments in The New York Times article, “The Mystery of My Burning Esophagus.”

Evan Dellon, MD, MPH, a professor in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, is an internationally known expert for his work with EoE. Elizabeth Jensen, PhD, associate professor at Wake Forest University, recieved her PhD from the University of North Carolina and is one of Dr. Dellon’s mentees.
