Presented to a Senior Resident whose qualities exemplify the standards set by Dr. Robert L. Ney as a person and physician. The award recognizes a commitment to academic excellence, a compassionate approach to patients, and, most of all, an inspiration effect on others.

Presented to an Intern or Resident whose performance best exemplifies the qualities of Dr. Janet J. Fischer, in particular excellence in medical student teaching and serving as a positive role model for student doctors on the wards.

Presented to an Intern whose performance best exemplifies the standards set by Dr. David A. Ontjes, including scholarly excellence and a commitment to the service of others.

Given in recogntion of scholarly excellence and for consistent delivery of high quality care.

Given to those Residents who demonstrate excellence in ambulatory general internal medicine. Their performance embodies the qualities of Dr. James Bryan, who has been a role model and mentor for internal medicine residents at UNC for over 40 years. The hallmark of Dr. Bryan’s excellence have been altruism, positivity, exuberance, and a life-long commitment to learning and self-improvement.

Given in recognition and appreciation of an outstanding educational contribution to the Residents and Interns in the Department of Medicine

GOLDEN BOOTS: Dr. Andy Donohoe
Given by a Senior Resident to the Junior Resident who by his/her example demonstrates superior clinical judgment.
