Chip grew up in Pine Knoll Shores along the East Coast of North Carolina. He attended UNC for college where he swam as a D1 athlete and majored in Biology. After college, he was selected to the US National Swim Team and during the next 9 years was the recipient of multiple awards including gold and silver world championships, gold and silver medals at the Pan American games, and recognition as an ESPN all American. As a medical student, Chip continued to excel and was recognized for his outstanding performance with induction into the AOA Honor Society. Chip matched into a top Urology program at the University of Indiana, but after completing nearly two years of residency realized that his heart and passion was still in Internal Medicine. We are excited to have Chip return to IM and to NC!
