Elizabeth Szumel, MD
About
Elizabeth grew up in Charlotte, NC and attended Williams College where she majored in biology with a concentration in Science and Technology studies. After college, she worked for a year as a research assistant at the University of Massachusetts focusing on the gut microbiome. As a medical student at UNC, she actively worked with the student SHAC clinic as a coordinator, served as the co-president for the History of Medicine club, and was selected as one of the “Student Chiefs” for Internal Medicine. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys working out and Orange Theory and is excited to be staying in the area as her husband finishes his Master program at Duke!
