Emma is from Mississippi and as a young student helped to start a youth mentoring program, Women Influencing Lives through Literature (WILL)—a non-profit that utilizes books and reading to mentor at-risk young women.  She attended North Carolina State University as a Park Scholar where she majored with highest honors in Biochemistry, being awarded with the top NCSU Biochemistry Department Award for her scholarship and research.  From there, she headed to the University of Alabama for medical school where she was selected to the Health Equity Scholars Program. As a scholar, she served as a health educator at a free health clinic, worked as a patient navigator at the student clinic, and volunteered as a patient partner at a mental health clinic.  Emma has excelled as a medical student and has served on the UAB School of Medicine Honor Council for four years before being selected to serve as the Honor Council Chair. She was also one of a select few students nominated to serve as a contact tracer with the Jefferson County Department of Health with COVID19. Emma cohosts a podcast, Nightlight Horror Movie Club, with her sister and enjoys running, reading, drawing, and organizing murder mystery parties with families and friends.  She is excited to be joining multiple family members including two sisters in the area and her parents who are moving to Franklin!
