About

Gul is originally from Pakistan and grew up in Madison, Mississippi.  She attended Emory for college where she majored in Biology with a Minor in Arabic.  As a medical student, she has been committed to service, volunteering at the Jackson free clinic and working with the Global Health student interest group.  For the past year, she was selected to work as a research assistant at UNC with the Department of Ophthalmology.  Her recent projects have included working to understand the barriers to care in Hispanic patients with diabetic retinopathy.  Gul enjoys running, cooking, audiobooks and has two parrots – Coco and Mochi!
