Gus is from Folsom California (yes, he is a country music and Johnny Cash fan!) and attended UCLA for college where he majored in molecular, cell and developmental biology and in his spare time worked as the head manager for the UCLA football team. After college, he worked for two years as a research assistant at Cedars Sinai in LA with work focusing on diet and the gut microbiome. Gus has been actively involved in the student clinic at Dartmouth, serving as the GI clinic lead, helped to found the “nutrition for the medical student” group, and works as a farm volunteer for “willing hands”. His fiancée completed nursing school at Duke and they are looking forward to returning to the area (and the better shade of blue!).
