Ishani Kapoor, MD
About
Ishani grew up in North Carolina and attended UNC for college where she graduated with Highest Honors with a public health degree in Biostatistics. With the pandemic, Ishani took a year to work as an Ophthalmic technician in Virginia prior to medical school, solidifying her interest in Ophthalmology. She has been actively engaged and productive in multiple research projects, working as a summer research assistant with the NIDDK in Durham in 2022. More recent projects have focused on a first-author publication meta-analysis of the impact of GLP-1RA on diabetic retinopathy and a systematic review of autoimmune retinopathy. She is also committed to service and as the Wellness Coordinator with the Whosoever Gospel Mission in Philadelphia helped to pilot health seminars for men experiencing homelessness in addition to multiple other clinical volunteer activities for the Philadelphia community. Ishani completed a visiting student elective at UNC this past summer and we look forward to having her back in Chapel Hill! Ishani will be staying at UNC for her Ophthalmology residency after completion of her preliminary year.
