About

Rashmi is originally from Cary, NC and attended UNC-Greensboro where she majored in biology.  After college, she worked as a medical assistant for a pediatric surgery clinic in Greensboro before coming to UNC for medical school.  As a medical student, she has been incredibly involved in multiple service and volunteer activities, including work with the SHAC student clinic’s “Bridge to Care” program, the open door clinic in Burlington, and work with the underserved as well as refugee populations in the area. She also has been actively involved in research, working for a year with the UNC Endocrinology group on projects that included establishing a database of older adults with Type 1 DM and examining the risks associated with obesity in older adults and the need for skilled nursing placement.
