About

Rebecca Varnell is originally from Winston-Salem, NC. She went to Kenyon College where she studied International Studies and Dance. She became interested in medicine after spending a year on the US-Mexico border studying and working with various non-profit organizations, recognizing the role that physicians can have in patient advocacy and support. Highlights of her time at UNC include participating in CAMPOS, serving as co-leader of Medical Students for Choice, and volunteering as a student provider at the SHAC Gender Affirming Care Clinic. She completed her Application Phase in Asheville and was excited to be back at UNC’s main campus for her final year of medical school.
