About

Ryan is from Raleigh, North Carolina and attended UNC for both undergraduate and medical school.  As an undergraduate student, Ryan was a UNC Men’s Rowing team captain for both his junior and senior years and continuing on after graduating to win a gold medal in the men’s 8+ at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea. Prior to medical school, Ryan worked as a lab manager in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at UNC and as a medical assistant at a family practice clinic in Chapel Hill. As a medical student, Ryan was been actively involved in the community, helping to coordinate the student-led COVID response and working with members of UNC’s BEAM Makerspace to produce 40,000 face shields for distribution statewide. He has also been active in research with interests in both geriatric medicine and cardiology. In his free time, Ryan enjoys rowing, weightlifting, cooking, and traveling.
