About

Yash is from New Jersey and attended Drexel where he graduated with Honors in Distinction in Biological sciences with a concentration in Pathobiology and a Minor in Public Health and was Commencement Student Speaker for his class.  From there, he came to the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson for medical school. He was a founding member of the Partners in Health Engage Philadelphia Chapter, working with an international advocacy group to reduce disease-associated stigma through public policy campaigns and events.  He also worked with the student-run health clinic to care for the homeless in Philadelphia and served the clinic as a Quality Improvement Committee member. Yash has been an outstanding medical student and was recognized for his outstanding clinical skills by his peers with induction into the Gold Humanism Society.  Yash is no stranger to UNC – he worked with our Cardiology faculty, including Dr. Stouffer, as a Medical Student Training in Aging Research Program (MSTAR) student at UNC for four months in 2018.  This work included working with a research project examining the pharmacogenomics of P2Y12 platelet inhibitors.  Yash enjoys hiking and has been on trails worldwide, including an exhibition through the Himalayas in Nepal and Tibet, travel, and Tae kwon do.
