Leigh Callahan, PhD, the Mary Link Briggs Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the division of rheumatology, allergy and immunology, has been voted president-elect of the US Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI). As associate director of the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center and national director of the Osteoarthritis Action Alliance, Callahan has been a vital part of USBJI for two decades.
