Congratulations to Craig R. Lee, Pharm.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Interim Vice Chair for Research and Graduate Education, Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy; Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, for the receipt of grant from the NIH’s NICHD.
Dr. Lee received grant to study how, and to what extent, pregnancy hormones alter the expression and function of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters in the liver and the hepatic clearance of drugs used to treat hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. With this funding, they will improve understanding of how drug clearance is altered during pregnancy and optimize drug dosing in obstetric patients. It is a 4-year grant for $1.6 million over 4 years, starting April 1, 2020.
